Cindy Margolis - Biography & Career
Born on October 1, 1965 in Los Angeles, California, this blonde bombshell is not only known as the "Queen of the Internet," but also as a talk show host, model and actress.
It all started when Cindy was working on a project for a college business course she was taking. She took her project idea of greeting cards further and launched her own greeting card line, with Cindy as the cover model for the cards. Agents started to ask about this greeting card cover girl, considering the fact that the company was a huge success. Cindy began to model and appeared in ads for Reebok, Vidal Sassoon, Coors, Hanes, and Sunkist.
Cindy then moved on to television with appearances on shows such as Married...with Children, Murphy Brown, Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, In the Dark, and Head Over Heels. Her first foray into television was as a Barker Beauty, a hostess on the game show The Price Is Right.
Her popularity on the Internet started when she appeared on Extra in 1995. Since then, she has been named Yahoo Internet Life magazine's "Queen of the Internet" from 1996 to 1999. She has been downloaded worldwide over 58 million times and has been inducted into The Guinness Book of World Records 2000 Millennium Issue, for having been downloaded 70,000 times in a period of 24 hours. For her reign in the cyber world, Cindy will be featured in the New Ripley's Believe It or Not museums.
Cindy's success has gone way beyond the realm of cyberspace. Moviegoers surely remember her as the fem-bot in the 1997 smash hit Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, which was the only reason for eyes to stray from Elizabeth Hurley in a leather catsuit! The following year, Cindy had a role in Chairman of the Board, co-starring Carrot Top and Raquel Welch.
Her reign as "Queen of the Internet" began when Warner Brothers' Extra featured a television segment on Cindy. Viewers were able to go online simultaneously to see some of Cindy's most popular posters. Cindy's image was downloaded to the surge of fans logged on to the Internet every 10 seconds!
Following the successful model's huge amount of recognition, Cindy participated in live chats on Extra Online and began hosting her own show in cyberspace, Cindy's World. The Internet show gives "audiences" a chance to interact with celebrity guests and view video clips of Cindy on the Internet.
With her huge popularity among cyberspace and television audiences alike, Cindy is also the star of The Cindy Margolis Show, which takes viewers to South Beach Miami where they can watch late night beach parties. This year she will also host and produce In Your Dreams with Cindy Margolis, a series of specials on E!.
No stranger to television audiences, Cindy garnered huge ratings for three different networks when she appeared on Pensacola Wings of Gold, Howard Stern, Roseanne, and Politically Incorrect. Her television appearance on Howard Stern earned the late night Shock Jock his highest ratings ever.
Featured frequently as America Online's Top Internet Star, one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 1998, Details magazine's Sexiest Woman of the Year in 1999, one of Forbes' Top 100 Celebrities in 1999 and 2000, Cindy also has the title of wife to Guy Starkman (to the dismay of millions of fans!).
